SchoolNetMali Brief Story
SchoolNetMali is born after Bamako 2002 Conference on the Information Society.
During the group discussion on the Strategies to promote ICTs in Africa , I had the chance to listen to SchoolNetAfrica Executive Director, Ms Shafika Isaacs Presentation. Therefore SchoolNetMali is the result of a meeting of two visionary on teacher training and Schools Networking. The marriage between a Malian Initiative and an African Initiative give birth to SchoolNetMali.
In fact, SchoolNetMali is the result of the collaboration between Mokoya Juru Association and SchoolNetAfrica. The marriage gives birth to a Malian organization SchoolNetMali “Mokoya Juru”. The story starts since 1998. It becomes a reality in 2002 and officially registers in 2003 with the number 0219/MATCL-DNI for first time under the name Mokoya Juru, then change to SchoolNetMali “Mokoya Juru” (SNM) with the number: 0219/MATCL-DNI of March 14 th 2004 .
The first school partner of SchoolNetMali is the CFPE, a vocational Center situate in Sotuba which is also hosting SchoolNetMali office and its Training Center . Nowadays SchoolNetMali has equipped 11 schools with computers and train around 500 teachers and learners in the use of computer as a tool of teaching and learning with the support of USAID-Mali and IEARN International as financial partners. This support has been second by that of the SchoolNetAfrica in the elaboration of the business plan, Geek Corps Mali which technical advices has been very helpful and the Operational partners the Ministry of Education and the partner schools. Their engagement with SchoolNetMali permits us to complete the Start up phase of SchoolNetMali with success.
